Not sure how many keep up to date on our blog, but I wanted to write a quick post letting you all know that we are well here in South Florida. It's been an insane couple months getting moved in and traveling. After arriving with my mom and an exhausted toddler, Dallas spoiled us by watching Daxton for a good couple days. My mom and I spent hours unpacking box after box and setting up our home. We also spent a lot of our time shopping, picking out furniture, cleaning, and trying to stay hydrated.
Holy cow is it hot and humid here!
We love our new home, which I will post in depth about later. We love our neighborhood and close proximity to the beach, several stores, and family. We love how much space we have and the fact that Daxton can literally run around the house and not get bored.
My mom stayed for a week spoiling us and helping us set up our home. It was an extremely hard goodbye when she left and the reality of how truly far away we had moved started to set in.
A week later Dallas received a call informing him that he had been chosen to work on a client in Sweden for 5-6 weeks. We thought that Daxton and I would be able to join him, but the day before we were all to leave, plans changed and Dallas had to travel to Europe on his own. It was pretty devastating being separated so quickly after our arrival together, more so for our little man. Daxton has been missing his father a lot!
Instead of falling into a moping mess for the next 5-6 weeks, I decided to fill it with the most amount of fun possible for myself and my little buddy. The first week we drove up to Orlando and met up with a good friend and her two kids. We explored Sea World, swam in the hotel pool, and held gators at Gatorland. We had so much fun with them and I will post more in depth on our adventures soon.
The second week my mom and dad flew into town. I'm sure my mom wasn't too thrilled about having to take the long journey so soon, but Daxton and I couldn't have been more thrilled for their arrival! We had an amazing two weeks with them. We drove down through the Florida keys and explored Key west. Dad spent a couple days fixing various home repairs and taking car of the lawn. We drove up to Orlando and explored Epcot Center before going on an INCREDIBLE disney cruise to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay. We then made our way back to Fort Lauderdale area where we spent a day at Butterfly World and Lion Country Safari feeding and observing all sorts of animals. Daxton and I were so stinkin' spoiled by the time they left!
The day after my parents' departure, my close college friends I taught with in New Zealand flew in for a visit. We spent our days packed with adventures including feeding lorikeets, giraffe, and riding on camels. We also took a river cruise through Fort Lauderdale, swam in our pool, explored the Miami waterfront, danced with the latin elderly, held gators in the everglades, and spent an afternoon swimming and playing in the sand of the Atlantic Ocean.
Needless to say, Daxton and I were exhausted yesterday when everyone left and our home was overly quiet. Dallas gets home tomorrow and we couldn't be more thrilled! I will slowly blog about all our crazy adventures over the past few weeks now that things are more calm.
I am feeling overly blessed and tired.
And I should just add that Daxton is a saint for letting me tote him around on all our crazy adventures!!
I'm glad you got there and got settled! So sad that Dallas had to leave for so long, but jealous of all of the fun things you were able to do!! I'll be in Orlando Nov 9-15 so I'd love to get together with you while I am there!
