Grandpa and Grandma Perkins Visit: Everglades Holiday Park

Our first family adventure we took, while Grandpa and Grandma Perkins were in town visiting from Casper, Wyoming at the end of January, was to the Everglades Holiday Park.  It was pretty funny, since we had literally just been there the previous week with the Bitter Family, but it's not a trip to Florida without seeing some gators!  On our drive over, I snapped this quick shot of Daxton wearing daddy's hat, but it totally looks like Daxton is taking his first "selfie!"

Daxton had an even better time with Grandpa and Grandma than he did with his parents.  He sat on Grandma's lap, ate goldfish, watched the birds and plants pass by, and then loved watching the gators when we found them.

Like I mentioned before, the Everglades has such a unique beauty. It really is peaceful once the air boat motor turns off.

Our tour guide was especially awesome this time and very knowledgeable about all the different wildlife and plant life.  He stopped the boat right next to a small island inhabited by several birds.  Then he started feeding them little bits of popcorn, which brought the birds even closer.  It was so neat to see them up close with the detailing on their feathers.  Daxton loved every second!

Just some of the beauty found in the Everglades...

We were able to see a few gators this time, one hiding in the bushes along an island and another coming very close to the boat.  It's still so crazy to me at how well camouflaged they are in the water!
Watching the gator swim around the boat...

On our way back to the dock, we saw an enormous iguana in one of the trees.  Can you find it in the pictures below?
Another example of awesome camouflage!

The gator wrestling show, put on by the Gator Boys, was especially awesome this time.  I had never seen the guy on the TV show, but I haven't been keeping up with the show now that I live in Florida.  He mentioned that he was a volunteer on the weekends.  I have to say that he not only put on the best wrestling show I had ever seen while living here, but he seemed much more knowledgable as well.

We of course had to get a picture of Grandpa and Grandma with a baby gator!  Daxton was super happy to hold another gator as well.
It was another fun adventure at the Everglades Holiday Park!
