La Jolla Shores Beach

After we finished up at Disneyland, we and the Demary's drove the rest of the way down to San Diego where we were staying for the week.  Since we had had such an insane day the day before, we decided to have a calm beach day at La Jolla Shores.  I absolutely LOVE San Diego.  Daxton and I had made the trip down in December to stay with friends and have a fun week while Dallas was on a work trip in Asia.  It was definitely more fun this time, though, with daddy along.  Not to mention that it was nice to have help with the little man.  Daxton must have a sixth sense for when we are traveling and loves to make sure he is teething at some point along our trip.  It's happened in Wyoming while visiting family and then at my little brother's wedding in April.  Gotta love teething babies!
Our beach day turned out to be the worst day for our little man.  Last time we were here, he loved every minute of it, but this time was much different.  He was fine at first, but within an hour he was done and wanted nothing to do with sand and water.  Dallas was a saint and ended up taking him back to the hotel for the rest of the day, so he could sleep in his crib, etc.  I'm sure Dallas loved the nap time as well, though!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from our day at La Jolla Shores Beach...

Feeling the freezing ocean water on their toes.

I love watching these two play together!

Daxton and Dallas headed back to the hotel shortly after everyone started getting wet.  Both of them were able to sleep the afternoon away while the rest of us continued to play in the sand and waves.

Hadley wasn't too sure about the waves.  A bit too cold on her toes?

One of the main reasons that I love to visit San Diego is two of my best friends live there.  Both Kim and Maren are from my "Devonshire" days while at BYU in Utah.  I love them so much and have had so many incredible memories throughout the last 10 years with them.  Kim has two adorable little girls, Lydia and Layla, and met us at the beach for the day.  Maren met up with us after she finished work.

(Top left and right) Hadley had an amazing army crawl through the sand.  She loved meeting new people and climbing on our legs.  (Bottom left) Little Layla always had a smile on her face!  She is such a loving happy little baby.

Lydia and Brooks became fast friends.
Within moments they were building sand castles, looking for crabs, and playing in the waves.  I loved watching their interactions with each other.  Both are such sweethearts.

LOVE these family pictures...
Yes they were literally taken seconds apart.
Gotta love toddler mood swings!

Nate was super sweet with Brooks.  It made me excited thinking about the fun that Dallas and Daxton will have while playing at the beach.  Nate and Brooks took turns burying each other in the sand.

LOVE these two girls so much!
Maren works in La Jolla and met us at the beach as the sun was setting.  It was so much fun to sit there and chat.  We did get taken out by a couple sneaker waves.  I feel so unbelievably blessed to have such incredible friends.
Our amazing view as the sun set.

We figured we'd run to Chipotle for dinner since it was super close to the beach and we were all exhausted and starving.  We made quite the mess and loved every minute of it!  It was the perfect way to end a great first day in San Diego.
