One good thing about being sick is it forces you to stay at home. I figured I would slowly get caught up on all of our many adventures over the past few weeks as we "Rock the Socks" off this last summer in the bay area.
At the end of June my oldest brother Bryan, who lives in Washington, had work meetings in San Francisco. He and his wife, Heather, thought it would be a great excuse to bring the whole family down to California for a visit. While our husbands were at work, the Heathers (yes, both my sister-in-laws are named Heather) and I took the crazy group of kids into the city for some fun. I had had a fun experience on the duck boat tour previously and thought the kids would love it as well. We did have a lot of fun, but I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed by our tour guide this time.

Since our group was so huge, we unfortunately had to drive into San Francisco separately. It was so cute to see all the cousins sprint to give Daxton hugs in his stroller when they first saw him. He is definitely spoiled with the most amazing cousins ever!
This was Daxton's third duck boat tour and he LOVED it. He loved to suck on the duck bill necklaces that they give everyone. He also loved that he wasn't sitting in his car seat. He could see everything going by and loved the wind on his face from the open sides.
If you blow into the duck bills they make an obnoxious quacking sound. Of course the kids LOVED this and by the end of our few days together the parents had heard enough quacking for a lifetime! Sadie and Olive needed a few minutes to get used to the sound.
Crazy cousins
Our favorite part is when the duck boat enters the water. The kids loved being on the water. We were even able to see a sea lion that was playing around our boat.
Big smiles as we enter the water.
The America's Cup is going on in San Francisco during August and September. It was fun to be out on the water and watching the different teams practice racing their sailboats. I was living in New Zealand in 2003 when the America's Cup took place down there and LOVED every minute of it, so it's been fun to see all the preparations in the bay area this summer.
My favorite team of course, New Zealand.
One of the things I love most about the duck boat tour is that you get to take turns steering once you're in the water. All the kids got to drive for a bit (I only got to pictures of a few of them...)
Even little Daxton took his turn.
We had some very happy kids on our hands!
Not a bad way to start our adventures for the week!
